Mireya Montano
University of Otago, PhD Student
Mireya achieved her master’s degree in physical oceanography at the Ensenada Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education researching the Lagrangian predictability in the deep circulation of the Northeast of Gulf of Mexico.
During her BSc in Oceanography from the Autonomous University of Baja California (Mexico), she was involved in studies of simulation of fluid dynamics with cellular automata, and studies of validation of the hydrography and circulation of a regional model within Todos Santos Bay.
Her PhD project will have a focus on coastal processes in the Bay of Plenty, and it will provide and insight into the coastal circulation, dispersion, and connectivity using a continental shelf-resolving regional model.
