Felix Cook
University of Otago, PhD Student
Felix completed his BSc in both Physics and Energy Studies at the University of Otago, going on to complete a BAppSc(Hons) investigating the matching of tidal power generation with electricity demand in New Zealand.
His research experience also includes completing the fourth annual Dunedin Energy Study which takes stock of and analyses energy inputs into the city of Dunedin.
Felix’s PhD topic seeks to characterise historical marine heat waves (MHWs) around New Zealand as well as identifying their trends and drivers. This research will increase our understanding of these extreme temperature events and allow for the assessment of MHW risk for New Zealand.
