Dr Ata Suanda
University of North Carolina Wilmington, Assistant Professor
As an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Ata brings to the Moana Project a unique understanding of the physical processes of the coastal ocean.
As a coastal physical oceanographer, Ata has interests in the interactions that occur in the shallower waters around the coast. Ata is also Involved with Coastal People: Southern Skies, a research collaboration based at the University of Otago with a focus on the changes from ocean warming, acidification, sea-level rise and climate change.
Ata’s contributions to Nga Ripo o Te Moana will benefit the Moana Project, through his proficiency in coastal oceanography and deeper understanding of coastal modelling.
